Major My major is Elementary Education. I plan on working at an elementary school in the area for awhile and then hopefully getting a job at a local elementary school close to my hometown. I want to continue my education after St. Andrews and receive a focus in special education because I enjoy working with special needs children. Eventually, I want to open up my own therapeutic horsemanship farm to combine my love for horses and my desire to work with special needs children. St. Andrews is significantly helping me towards reaching my goals in more aspects than just through education. I am getting to experience the therapeutic farm side with our wonderful therapeutic program. In one of my education classes we are getting firsthand experience and are taking what we learn in our class and apply it to a real class scenario with 10 fourth graders. I have learned how to grow as a person over all. Extracurricular I am currently riding on both the Western and Hunt Seat equestrian teams. I joined the Hunt Seat team at the beginning of my sophomore year to advance my knowledge as an overall rider. I have enjoyed it immensely since I have started and cannot wait to grow as a rider throughout the year. Freshman year I rode for the Western team and went to Nationals in Kentucky to represent the team and got second place in the intermediate division and the team won third overall! |
Why St. Andrews? The close environment has meant a lot to me. Going to class and being on a level with your professors that you would never get at a large school is one of my favorite aspects of this school. If I ever need help with anything the professors are flexible and willing to help in anyway. There is always someone to talk to if ever needed as well and it is a fun environment. Another experience I have treasured is the Equestrian Program. Riding on the teams has brought me closer with the people at the school and has improved my riding so much. We are truly blessed with the barn and great coaches that we have at St. Andrews. |

Faculty Dr. Edna Ann Loftus was my advisor when I first came to St. Andrews until I declared my major in education. She also was my professor for one of my honors sage classes. She was a wonderful advisor, always available and ready to answer any question I had about where I needed to go next in my school process. Just like being an advisor she was also a wonderful professor. I still will go to her if I need to talk about anything or discuss a plan I’m not sure about. |
