Submission deadline for Gravity Hill approaching
Laurinburg, N.C. – There are just over three weeks remaining for members of the Laurinburg community to submit works for publication in Gravity Hill, the student literary journal at St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
The submission deadline for poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, one-act plays, photographs and artwork is December 1.
“Gravity Hill is a student-run literary journal that is published annually in the spring,” said Dr. Ted Wojtasik, faculty advisor for the publication. “The journal was created to showcase work by St. Andrews students, faculty, alumni, staff, and friends of the College. Last year we opened it up to submissions by the Scotland County community and were able to publish several pieces from this new base of authors. We are looking forward to adding even more to the collection this year.”
Allison Faulhaber is the student editor for the 2011 edition.
Gravity Hill is named after the local legend of the car accident at the intersection of Stewartsville Cemetery and Old Maxton Roads where a woman and her child were killed by an 18-wheeler and where, today, if you stop your car and put it in neutral, the two ghosts will push your car up the hill out of harm’s way.
All work can be submitted electronically at email@example.com or mailed to Allison Faulhaber Gravity Hill, St. Andrews Presbyterian College, 1700 Dogwood Mile, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
Previous copies of Gravity Hill can be purchased at the St. Andrews College Press Office for $5.00.
