McConnell serves as reviewer, writer, judge during fall semester |
By Bryant Ferrell Laurinburg, N.C. - Dr. William T. McConnell, associate dean for Adult and Extended Programs, was appointed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to review Dropout Prevention Grants. These grants were submitted by public schools and non-profit community organizations throughout North Carolina. Through this review process, the North Carolina legislature was able to allocate $13 million dollars toward addressing high school dropout problems within the state. Fall semester was a busy time for McConnell as in September, his article, “Examining Ourselves: Are we Living up to our Own Standards,” was published in The Choral Journal, a publication of the American Choral Directors Association. McConnell has also been appointed to the choral adjudication panel for The American Prize for a second time. The American Prize is a non-profit prize that recognizes amateur and professional music making in the United States. McConnell holds degrees in music from Oral Roberts University, East Carolina University and the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. |
