St. Andrews Art Camp show fills Vardell Gallery
Laurinburg, N.C. - Dangling ceramic pieces hung from the ceiling, with paintings and drawings displayed on the walls as the smiling artists watched family and friends move around the Vardell Art Gallery late Friday morning for the St. Andrews Art Camp Art Show.
"We had a talented, delightful, sweet group of 5- to 8-year-olds," said Director Stephanie McDavid. "It was a perfect week."
There were 24 students for the second annual camp for this age group. A first camp for 9- to 13-year-olds will be held from July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., which will also include an art show at the end. Registration is $80, which covers all materials.
"It will be a new adventure for the older children, who will spend the five days making prints, ceramics, paintings, sculptures and more," said McDavid.
Camp instructors like 2010 St. Andrews graduate Elise Moore assisted McDavid with the camp throughout the week.
"I'm so exited," Moore said. "I had a great time this week and I'm looking forward to coming back in July."
