Handmade disc golf course planned at St. Andrews

Laurinburg, N.C. – A group of students and faculty at St. Andrews University have come together with a plan to create a handmade disc golf course.

Spencer Phillips is taking the lead in creating the handmade course on the campus.

The project, being pursued with the assistance of Professors Doug Glass and Jeff Birdsong, is a community-oriented effort.

"This is something that we want to create for current and future students to enjoy," Phillips said. "We have an amazing campus and this could create a communal recreation location for use throughout the year."

The initial goal is to get the front 9 completed for use during the spring semester while completing the back 9 by the end of the academic year.

"We are designing it to meet all the specifications of the Disc Golf Association," Phillips said. "We want to create something that will have a lasting impact."

To make the project a reality, donations are being sought. Anyone interested can contact Doug Glass (glassdw@sapc.edu), Jeff Birdsong (birdsongjl@sapc.edu) or Phillips (phillipssc@sapc.edu) for additional information or to make a contribution.
