Information session scheduled for St. Andrews MBA Program
Laurinburg, N.C. – Anyone interested in the St. Andrews University Masters in Business Administration program is invited to attend an information session this Wednesday.
The session begins at 5:30 p.m. in room 102 of the James L. Morgan Liberal Arts Building. Reservations to this free information session are requested due to space limitations. To reserve your space please contact MBA Admissions Counselor Megan Harvey at MBA@sapc.edu or 910-277-5148.
“This session will allow members of the community to learn about our distinct MBA,” said Harvey. “We will provide insights into the teaching methods, review admissions requirements and introduce our faculty and staff for the program.”
As a special incentive for students joining in the inaugural class, St. Andrews is offering a first semester discount of $300 per credit hour instead of the standard $600.
"We have structured the program to meet the needs of the working professional," said Robert Hopkins, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the university. "We want to develop the students' critical thinking skills so they can adapt easily to business shifts. Our graduates will upgrade their skill set, refine communication abilities and boost career mobility."
Members of the St. Andrews business faculty will be providing the leadership for the classes, which begin August 20.
“The faculty members in the Department of Business and Economics at St. Andrews University are excited to have the opportunity to expand into graduate studies that build on the strong reputation of the undergraduate Business Program and the documented success of its graduates,” said Professor of Business Corinne Nicholson. “The Masters of Business Administration Program will provide students a balance of practical applications with theoretical concepts while enhancing the skills needed to be leaders and decision-makers capable of addressing the challenges of dynamic business environments.”
Courses in the program include financial reporting, global economic environment, marketing philosophy and management and topics in the legal and ethical environment of business, among others. In addition to the traditional classroom instruction, the St. Andrews MBA program includes practicum courses with a consulting project. Students enrolled in the program full time can complete the degree in just over 18 months.
Local businessman Dr. Wayne Freeman, president and CEO of TDA Consulting, Inc., sees a great benefit to the St. Andrews offerings.
“The St. Andrews MBA is well positioned to prepare future leaders to not only understand the foundations of business but to also integrate and apply these business principles to real world organizational problems,” said Freeman, who will also be serving as a member of the faculty as well. “Successful organizations understand the need to recruit and retain the best talent. Graduates of the St. Andrews MBA Program will be better equipped to meet this critical need for future organizational leaders.”
