SAU Show Team earns ribbons
Seven members of the St. Andrews University Equestrian Show Team traveled with six horses to the Triangle Farms C Show over the weekend.
“All the students rode very well against some of North Carolina’s top horses and riders,” said Coach Kelsi Peterson. “I think it was a wonderful learning experience for all and each student was rewarded for their efforts with great ribbons in competitive company.”
Kirsten Farley was champion in the Carolina Hunter and the Pre-child/adult Hunter divisions, earning three first place ribbons and additional top ribbons on Indigo Night.
Anastasia MacNaught was reserve champion in the Carolina Hunter division aboard Eastern Shore. MacNaught and fellow St. Andrews rider Rachaell Dockery earned top ribbons in the Pre-child/adult Hunter competition as well.
Keli Van Den Heuvel rode Onyx and Kayla MacBath rode Chancellor to excellent ribbons in the Adult Hunter division.
Catherine McDowell earned several ribbons in the Junior/Amateur Hunter competition riding Ladies Man.
Onyx returned to competition with Alexandra Fullerton as the rider in the NCHJA Adult Medal Finals on Saturday night.
“She had one bobble in the course through a challenging rollback turn, but rode beautifully otherwise and came out of the ring with a big smile on her face, shining her consistently positive attitude,” said Peterson. “Qualifying for the Medal Finals takes a lot of work throughout the year and Alexandra put a lot of effort into her riding to qualify and prepare for the class.”
Peterson will continue to work with the team as they prepare for their next competition in two weeks.
