Poet, journalist, author coming to Writers’ Forum

Laurinburg, NC - Author, journalist and poet Sherry Rentschler will be the featured reader Thursday at the St. Andrews University Writers’ Forum.

Free and open to the public, the Forum begins at 8 p.m. in the Ronald H. Bayes Writers' Forum Lounge of Orange Hall.

Rentschler’s first poem was published at the age of five and her first newspaper article was published at age 13. She has been writing ever since. She has been published in a variety of literary magazines as she worked as a staff columnist and assistant poetry editor for the online magazine, Amateur Poetry Journal.

Rentschler has also worked as a staff writer and photojournalist for a local newspaper. Her first collection of poetry, Paper Bones, was published in July 2013.

She collaborated with another writer on an online, serialized gothic romance story, a project she credits with helping her how to see a story from many angles as well as how to utilize the art of a good cliffhanger.

She is currently writing a historical murder mystery and a vampire series.
