SAU Western Team wins Regional Title
The St. Andrews University Western Team won the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 4 Region 4.5 Regional Title by 19 points over North Carolina State University (NCSU).
The team standings were finalized after a show Saturday co-hosted by Martin Community College and NCSU. NCSU was the champion team in the competition with St. Andrews earning Reserve Champion status.
Michelle Hustad’s High Point Rider status helped to secure the AQHA Cup High Point Rider for the Region. She also earned first place in Open Horsemanship A and Reining.
Erin Hudson also earned first place in Novice Horsemanship A.
Jarrett Vaughn, Mark Mowbray, Vicky Wiese and Callie Whaley each earned second place finishes in the competition.
Danielle Eads earned a third place with Logan Teeter adding a fourth place to his collection.
For individuals, Sunday was the Regional Final competition at Martin Community College to determine individual riders who will compete at the IHSA Western National Semi-Finals at the SAU Equestrian Center on March 28 - 29.
Hustad, Hudson and Wiese qualified for the Semi-Finals with first and second place finishes on the day. Teeter finished third and Whaley fifth in their respective divisions.
