What Distinguishes This St. Andrews Program: Skills, Knowledge, and Confidence
The Department of Business and Economics has designed its curriculum and coordinated its various course offerings to ensure that our students will achieve the following learning outcomes:
- Knowledge: Demonstrate a competent understanding of theories, concepts and subjects in the major.
- Communication: Become an effective and efficient communicator.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrate the ability to locate, evaluate, analyze and synthesize information relevant to the disciplines of the major.
- Servant Leadership: Exhibit professional competencies and habits, demonstrate leadership skills, and empower and respect those with whom they work.
Although our courses have specific discipline content objectives, we purposely incorporate certain general skills such as writing or making oral presentations or preparing business plans into all our courses beginning with the introductory courses, Thus, our students bring together in our capstone Senior Business Policy and Strategy Seminar both the discipline specific knowledge and the analytical and communications skills needed to analyze the complex case studies and present their findings and recommendations both in writing and in a formal oral presentation. |
