LAURINBURG, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College men’s and women’s cross country teams had to change the start of its 2008 season schedule due to probable inclement weather expected from Tropical Storm Hanna. The Knights harriers will now begin the season at the UNC Pembroke Invitational on Friday evening after the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational was postponed.
SAPC was scheduled to race at the Seahawk Invitational on Friday night but UNCW, located on the coast of North Carolina, has postponed the race with Tropical Storm Hanna expected to hit the Carolina shores on Friday (and potentially be upgraded to a hurricane).
The Knights are now competing at the UNCP Invitational, which is located much further inland at the Luther Britt Park in Lumberton, North Carolina. The men’s four-mile race will begin at 6:00 p.m. while the women’s three-mile race follows at 6:45 p.m.
St. Andrews last competed in the UNC Pembroke Invitational in 2005 with the Knights men’s team winning the race. The SAPC men’s team is currently ranked fifth in the Southeast Region.
