St. Andrews names Kenworthy Assistant to the Athletics Director

June 2, 2008

LAURINBURG, N.C.—Director of Athletics Brian Mand has named Rachelle Kenworthy the new Assistant to the Athletics Director at St. Andrews Presbyterian College starting immediately.

“I feel very privileged to have this position,” said Kenworthy. “St. Andrews has been very good to me and my family over the last few years. I’m fortunate to be able to work with such a committed and fun staff and am very excited to see what we accomplish over the coming year.”

Kenworthy joins the Knights athletics staff full time after spending the past spring semester as a part-time administrative assistant to the athletics director while finishing up her bachelor’s degree. Kenworthy graduated with a 3.8 GPA from SAPC last month with a degree in liberal arts, concentration in psychology and communication. In that role, she served primarily as the office manager and liaison to the business office, while also beginning the process to produce online sport media guides.

“Rachelle stepped forward this spring to fill a void in her role as office manager, on a part-time basis, while carrying a full-time course load to complete her degree at St. Andrews. She also demonstrated the desire, commitment and ability to expand on the marketing, promotion and fund raising aspects of the program, as well as to enhance communication to our various outside constituencies,” Mand stated. “She will play an integral role in expanding Knights Club membership and opportunities for increased involvement and access to the athletics program, including the establishment of a corporate partner and sponsorship program. Her creativity, demonstrated work ethic and understanding of college athletics will bring a necessary skill set to this diverse position within our administrative team.”

“I am motivated and ready to begin creating media guides and other website initiatives andto become more involved with the Knights Club. I think that Dr. Mand has a great plan to improve St. Andrews athleticsand I’m ready to do my part,” added Kenworthy.

Kenworthy has additional related and relevant work experience as a reporter with ‘The Laurinburg Exchange’ newspaper and was a three-year student-athlete in college playing intercollegiate fast pitch softball. The Riley, Kansas native currently resides in Laurinburg, N.C.
