BELMONT, N.C.—Senior Alyson Trovato was the conference runner-up leading the St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s cross country team to fifth place at the 2008 Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday morning at Belmont Abbey College.

Trovato earned her third consecutive First Team All-Conference award in a Royal Blue & White uniform after transferring to St. Andrews. Trovato had her highest finish in the Conference Championships taking second place with an impressive time of 19:20.8 on the 5k course. Trovato finished just 26 seconds behind the race winner with one of only four times under 20 minutes out of 81 runners.
Freshman Tiffany Williams (Chesapeake, Va.) and sophomore Tierra Savage (Sanford, N.C.) both collected Second Team All-Conference accolades after both posting top-10 results in their first ever Conference Carolinas Championships. Williams garnered seventh overall with a speedy time of 20:05.7 while Savage crossed the finish line right behind Williams in eighth place at 20:08.1.
The Lady Knights finished in the upper half of the field taking fifth overall with 109 points. SAPC has placed fifth for the second straight year with another young team.
“I am so proud of our women's team,” said SAPC first year head coach Jim Walters. “They continue to work hard and improve every week. We are excited and looking forward to the regional championship.”
Freshman Anna Egeln (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) concluded her first conference race right in the middle of the field in 41st overall with a time of 22:12.6. Sophomore Danielle Martin (Newport, N.C.) wrapped up the Knights scoring five harriers by taking 53rd with a time of 23:49.2. Sophomore Allie Faulhaber (Apex, N.C.) concluded St. Andrews running at 26:13.9.
St. Andrews will next race in the 2008 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional hosted by Wingate University on Saturday, November 8. The women’s 8k race is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. More information located at www.crosscountryregionals.com.
