LAURINBURG, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College senior graduate Alyson Trovato (Cedar Park, Texas) has been selected to the 2008/09 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Cross Country/Track & Field First Team sponsored by CoSIDA for the second straight year.

Trovato was voted to the District 3 College Division First Team of the ESPN the Magazine Academic All- America® Program, as voted upon by Sports Information Directors who are members of CoSIDA, after excelling as both a Lady Knights harrier and as a St. Andrews student.
The Cedar Park, Texas, resident had a successful three seasons for the Lady Knights after transferring to St. Andrews after her freshman season. Trovato was a three-time All-Conference and All-Region cross country award winner for the Royal Blue & White. She collected an impressive seven conference Runner of the Week honors in her career.
Trovato won the UNC Pembroke Invitational and had six top-5 finishes in 2008. Trovato capped her collegiate cross country career by qualifying for the NCAA National Championship for the second straight year.
In the spring, Trovato was a 2009 track & field First Team All-Conference award winner in the 1,500m run and Second Team All-Conference recipient in the 5,000m run after finishing first and second in those events in the inaugural Conference Carolinas Track & Field Championships. She was a two time conference Track Athlete of the Week.
The 2009 Carl F. Ullrich award winner graduated from St. Andrews in May, earning a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a 3.98 cumulative GPA. Trovato is a USTFCCCA Academic All-American and a Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll student-athlete.
NOTE: To be nominated the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her career. No athlete is eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution (thus, true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible transfers are not eligible).
