HIGH POINT, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Katie Wright (5-3 overall, 3-2 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse Player of the Week during week number four in the 2009 season.
Senior attack Katie Wright had a hat trick and one assist helping host St. Andrews Presbyterian College upset Belmont Abbey College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 9-7.
Wright had a hat trick in the first half helping the Knights take the lead early as they never trailed against a team that started the season preseason nationally ranked tenth. Wright also added two draw controls and two ground balls as St. Andrews won its third straight game and ending the Crusaders four-game win streak.
The win catapults the Knights ahead of the Abbey in the league standings as SAPC holds its best record in the program's history through eight games.
The Waterloo, N.Y., native has 21 points on the season with 12 goals and nine assists.
