HAMPTON, Va.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College sophomore Greg Todd (Gloucester, Va.) carded his second straight victory in the 2009 Virginia Duals Tournament hosted by the Peninsula Wrestling Association at the Hampton Convention Center Friday afternoon with a pin fall in a 31-12 loss to NCAA Division I Wagner College.

Todd pinned his opponent four minutes and six second into the 157-pound match to give the Knights (0-5 overall) a 12-6 lead midway through the third and final dual match for both squads. Todd maintains a 2-2 record in dual matches this season and has two victories by pin fall.

However, the Seahawks (1-13) tallied a decision and a major decision in the next two matches to take a 13-12 advantage and then rolled to the 19-point victory after SAPC forfeited the final three weights.

The freshman duo of Matt Fletcher (Stephens City, Va.) and Dan Butcher (Westwood, N.J.) each earned three-point for the Royal Blue & White with wins by decision helping St. Andrews build its early lead. Fletcher had a 15-8 victory in the lightweight match and Butcher followed with a 7-1 win at 141-lbs. Fletcher and Butcher have matching 3-2 dual meet records in their rookie seasons.

Todd and Fletcher both leave the tournament with winning 2-1 records on the day.

Sophomore 133-pound Casey Gashaw (Laurinburg, N.C.) lost all three of his tilts on Friday by the narrowest of margins including a 5-4 loss against Wagner. Knights’ junior Brad McKee (Kings Mountain, N.C.) and freshman Mike Frazzitta (Fayetteville, N.C.) both lost by decision in their final attempt at a victory in the Virginia Duals.

St. Andrews next visits nationally ranked Newberry College on Thursday, January 15 at 7 p.m.
