NEWBERRY, S.C.—The sophomore duo of Casey Gashaw (Laurinburg, N.C.) and Greg Todd (Gloucester, Va.) both picked up impressive wins for visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian but No. 2 nationally ranked Newberry College used its depth in a 45-6 victory on Thursday evening. Newberry improves to 14-2 on the season while SAPC dips to 0-6.

Sophomore Greg Todd (pictured) won his third straight dual match, winning his bout 9-2 on Thursday night at No. 2 Newberry.

The dual started off with three of the first four matches being forfeits in Newberry's favor as the Knights failed to field a wrestler at 174, 197 and 285 pounds. Josh Whitelock, Channon Clamp, and Cy Wainwright all improved their season records with the forfeits.

At 184 lbs., Bryant Blanton faced off against junior Brad McKee (Kings Mountain, N.C.) -- who was attempting to wrestle six weight classes above his listed 133-pound weight -- and claimed a first-period fall over McKee at the 1:56 mark. The pin fall was Blanton's eighth of the season, seven of which have come in the opening period.

In the 125 pound match, No. 6 nationally ranked Matt Oliver pinned the Knights' Matt Fletcher (Stephens City, Va.) at the 5:48 mark in the third period. The fall was Oliver's seventh of the season as he improved his record to 18-2.

St. Andrews won their first match of the night as Gashaw defeated Newberry's Gerald Jenkins (Charleston, S.C.) with a 15-11 decision. Gashaw improves to 6-7 on the season with his second dual match victory of the year.

No. 8 ranked Tony Washington came away with his twelfth win of the season as he narrowly defeated freshman Dan Butcher (Westwood, N.J.) with a 7-3 decision. Washington scored three takedowns in the match as he increased Newberry's lead to 33-3.

At 149 lbs., No. 7 nationally ranked Latra Collick pinned sophomore Troy Baranik (Laurinburg, N.C.) in three minutes and 42 seconds. The pin was Collick's sixth of the season as he improved his dual record to 12-4.

Todd provided the Knights with three more points in the 157-lb tilt, defeating Raleigh Abbott with a 9-2 decision. Todd has won three straight dual matching improving his season record to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in duals.

Brandon Kelly claimed his twelfth victory of the season with a forfeit at the 165-pound match. Kelly's forfeit victory served as the last match of the night.

St. Andrews visits Spartanburg Methodist College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before returning home and hosting the 13 team East Coast Duals on Friday & Saturday, January 23-24.
