DeTamble Library Facility
The
three-story DeTamble Library provides access to online resources, newspapers,
periodicals and thousands of print and electronic books.
The
Library was constructed in 1964 through a legacy to the First Presbyterian
Church of Winston-Salem from the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Fred DeTamble and
funds from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation and the Mary Reynolds Babcock
Foundation. The 16,384 square foot structure was enlarged in 1995 to 18,168
square feet with a gift from the Neill Alexander and Augusta Evans Currie
Memorial Library Trust Fund.
The
first floor includes the Information Desk, student lounge, public computers, the Popular Reading Collection, reference/research
areas with comfortable seating and the Archives.
The
second floor holds current and older periodicals, the Children’s
Literature Collection, computers, meeting and group
study space as well as study desks and tables. The microfilm and microfiche collections and equipment are also located
on this floor.
The
third floor houses the majority of the book collection, and the Library Classroom. The Writing Center is located in the 3rd floor Classroom, and provides peer tutoring for students during posted hours.
