SAU Western Team earns Reserve Champion status at weekend shows
The St. Andrews University Western Team earned two Reserve Champion Team statuses at Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competitions hosted by Campbell University and Virginia Tech over the weekend.
At the end of the weekend, St. Andrews retained a 24 lead in the conference in the overall standings with North Carolina State in second and Virginia Tech in third.
Saturday’s competition saw North Carolina State University finish first. There was a three-way tie for High Point Riders between St. Andrews rider Michelle Hustad, West Carolina University’s Jasmine Fowler and North Carolina State University’s Coy Herbert.
Hustad earned first place in Open Horsemanship Section B and second place in Reining Section B.
Also earning first place finishes for St. Andrews on Saturday were Jarrett Vaughn, Vicky Wiese, Erica LeSeur, Cailey Culp, Mark Mowbray and Natasha Worker.
Logan Teeter and Caitie Mosca had second place finishes in their respective divisions while Austin Trockenbrot contributed a third place finish and Callie Whaley added a fourth place finish.
Sunday saw first place finishes by Trockenbrot and Erin Hudson.
Hustad, Vaughn, Dugan McDermott, and Mosca added second place finishes.
Hustad, Worker, Sarah Murvin, Whaley and LeSeur contributed third place finishes to the effort.
